Biography

As a structural biologist at the Pathogen Genomics Laboratory at KAUST, Kayenat Sheikh focuses on integrating functional properties to genomic elements, particularly through structures. She did her master’s from Jamia Millia Islamia, a Central University, and training at CSIR-IGIB, India. Her previous experience at the Computational Structural Biology Lab involved understanding the basis of structural evolution of LC3B homologs participating in the autophagic machinery across various species.
At KAUST she focuses on introducing ML models aimed at pathogen proteins classification and functional annotation that shall contribute strategically to the goals of the laboratory. She is well-equipped to support and drive forward the innovative research initiatives.
